Starting this blog was part of a dream. And a plan. I’ve 
always enjoyed writing, and decided to pursue that passion in my retirement. This blog has been a great way to hone my style and practice, practice, practice. Plus I love writing about my experiences. But I wanted to take it one step further, and try writing for a magazine.
I was fortunate to get my start with Lake Superior Magazine in 2012. I love everything about the Big Lake, and have learned so much by working with their great staff.
In the fall of 2016 I took the leap and started writing a book. My working title is Marriage at 12 Miles an Hour, and it chronicles the adventures my husband, Rich, and I have had cycle touring for weeks at a time in the U.S. and the marvelous people we have met. Striving to improve my style and get my work in front of more eyes, I also branched out to writing for other publications and entering writing contests. It has been rewarding to have my work accepted by new editors and to gain experience working with various writing professionals. And I am learning mental fortitude in accepting the inevitable rejection notices.
